The Shadow of Your Smile by Susan May Warren

The Shadow of Your Smile
Deep Haven, Book 5
by Susan May Warren
Noelle is ready to give up on her marriage after tragedy has struck her family and their small town. But an accident that leaves her with more than just a little amnesia, causes Noelle to see her life through new eyes. Will she like what she sees or will she want to run away from what she has found. Will her husband and her family be able to find true forgiveness and love? Will others affected by the same tragedy find their own forgiveness and love? Will they be able to move on with their lives and find a new normal in the aftermath?
The story of The Shadow of Your Smile is one of tragedy and hope, despair and forgiveness. Warren successfully weaved a brilliant story that took a look at all the what-if’s of loosing a child, a spouse, forgetting one’s life, and true love. This is definitely one of my favorite books. I will note that this is book 5 in the series about Deep Haven. While this was the first book in the series that I read, and the first of Warren’s books, it does well as a stand alone book. I will mention that it took me about 1/3 of the book to get all the characters straight, but since the other books in the series are about various people in the town, that may or may not help in reading this book.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I received this book free from Litfuse for the purpose of this review.

About the book: The Shadow of Your Smile

A beautiful blanket of snow may cover the quaint town of Deep Haven each winter, but it can’t quite hide the wreckage of Noelle and Eli Hueston’s marriage.

After twenty-five years, they’re contemplating divorce . . . just as soon as their youngest son graduates from high school. But then an accident erases part of Noelle's memory. Though her other injuries are minor, she doesn’t remember Eli, their children, or the tragedy that has ripped their family apart. What’s more, Noelle is shocked that her life has turned out nothing like she dreamed it would. As she tries to regain her memory and slowly steps into her role as a wife and mother, Eli helps her readjust to daily life with sometimes-hilarious, sometimes-heartwarming results. But can she fall in love again with a man she can’t remember?

Will their secrets destroy them . . . or has erasing the past given them a chance for a future? Read the story behind the story here: http://www.susanmaywarren.com/books/the-shadow-of-your-smile
